The Egyptians had a very peculiar way of treating people. They had something called a social class system. On the top to bottom, they had pharaoh's, government officials, priests, scribes, artisans, and then the peasants. Pharaohs had a very luxurious life. They wore a huge amount of jewelry, and had a vast amount of gold. They mainly ate meat, wine, and a lot of other foods. The pharaoh’s lived a palace and had their beauty sleep in their free time. Their main jobs were to visit construction sites to overview the work, and to execute the people who needed to be. They used a chariot to get around. Next were the noblemen/government officials. They wore fine linen kilts with leather sandals. they had bread, fruit, and wine for foods. The noblemen had very nice houses and a lot of nice things. They spent their free time hunt or do anything they wanted. Their main job was to make sure the farmers were doing what they were supposed to do, and not fool around. They used papyrus to do their jobs. Next were the priests. They had clothes made of linen and ate pea lentils soup, and buttered bread. They lived in temples and usually bathed 3-4 times a day in their free time. They had to redress the gods, feed the gods, advise the pharaoh, and bury people. The scribes were at the same level as the priests. After were the artisans, in other words, the craft workers. They wore clothes made of linen and ate figs, dates, bread, fish, honey, and milk. They lived in modest homes and had little time in the morning. Their job was to create items for the upper class people. At the bottom of the social pyramid were the peasants. They wore coarse linen kilts and a pair of red sandals and ate bread, fruit, meat, and beer. Peasants lived in simple houses and had to harvest crops for their free time and their job.
